POWER OF THE TRUSTEE

Nonprofit Organization. A nonprofit's board of trustees is responsible for overseeing the operation of the organization and assuring the organization's conformance with the law. The board ensures that its organization upholds the interests of the public--the foundation on which the nonprofit sector is built.

Board Leadership Practice

An organization’s board of directors provides leadership, accountability and oversight to its organization. Identifying how well a board is governing the organization is an important factor in understanding the overall health, stability, and sustainability of an organization.

HOPE HAVEN CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY

A commitment to handling conflicts of interests is essential to creating an organizational culture of transparency. Boards should create and follow a policy for identifying and handling conflicts of interest, whether real or perceived.  Organizations should review the conflict-of-interest statement and require signed disclosures from all board members .

BOARD SELF ASSESSMENT OF PROGRESS

Doing so ensures that we are being intentional about how we govern the organization, which is a critical component of effective board leadership.
